Finding Joy in Everyday Moments // Special Guest Pam Baumeister (Episode 80)

I’m excited for you to join me for another amazing podcast!

This week I get to spend some time talking with my good friend Pam Baumeister who is seriously one of the most down-to-earth and joyful people I know. Pam and I have worked together in the past and have been both professional and personal friends for several years now.

What does Joyful Living look like for Pam?

The ability to put a smile on your face even on the days when you don’t feel like smiling. Yes, there may be times when you just have to fake it. As Pam shares, we tend to think that there are certain situations or places that will make us happy, but the truth is, we have the ability to be happy in ANY situation.

And Pam would definitely know! During our conversation, she shares a particularly difficult challenge that she has faced for several years and continues to deal with to this day. It’s the sort of life-changing twist that would send many of us running away with our tails between our legs. Yet Pam has learned to overcome the negative feelings that first came with this challenge and find a way to see the joy in everyday moments.

We talk about embracing the time we have with our children and how important it is to take the time to appreciate the small moments of WONDER and MAGIC that happen every day. Part of that includes engaging and participating more in our children’s lives. It all goes by so quick and we have to be aware of the time we have with our most valuable relationships.

Pam does a great job of putting things into PERSPECTIVE and being able to appreciate what we have. She points out that everyone has something to be grateful for – to be happy about. It’s so crucial that we stop every now and then and take inventory of the all of the things we have in our lives that truly bring us joy.

If we anticipate bad things to come, they will definitely come. If we anticipate great things in life to happen, they will happen! The trick then becomes putting our work and effort towards the great things.

It’s important to ask ourselves, “Am I WILLING to feel more joy?” And as Pam points out, once we identify our upper limits of true happiness, are we going to continue to break through to new levels of joy or are we going to be the ones to hold ourselves back?

There are so many motivating and thought-provoking ideas that come up during my conversation with Pam. I can’t wait for you to listen for yourself and share your thoughts and feelings with me!

ABOUT PAM BAUMEISTER //

WWW.PAMBAUMEISTER.COM

From youth, Pam Baumeister sought joy from creating things. In her adult life she has been a creator on radio and the printed page, but throughout the years her one passion was art. This primarily self-taught artist has found her stride with watercolor. She likes the untethered nature of watercolor because, she says, “it reminds me how much of life is unplanned and spontaneous.” Her sense of humor and ability to let go of what was originally planned continues to be challenged as she pursues more depth, sheer joy, and warmth in her paintings.nbsp;

Through the years, she has found that her best models for drawing and painting have been her four spunky, unpredictable, and elusive daughters. She continues to make an effort to see them and capture their pure and raw beauty and has a vision for all parents to see their children this way. Pam continues to keep her eyes open to the world of adventure and playful moments — especially of children at play — that she can capture on a crisp piece of watercolor paper.nbsp;
